Proud to be announced as 'member of the week'

Please welcome Barns Campsite as our Member of the Week. An independent and family-run business, Ewan and Truus are keen to share their love of travel, nature and Scotland with all who visit their campsite.

Barns Campsite is a peaceful campsite located on an arable farm just outside of Nairn, where they invite you to stay and enjoy life in the beautiful countryside with long walks by the river and nature at its best. Ewan and Truus share a passion for travel and they’ve travelled extensively in their own campervan over the years, which has led them to where they are now. They returned home to Ewan’s family farm in the Highlands just a couple of years ago, to give back and share their love of camping and the natural beauty of Scotland. Ewan is originally from the area, having been brought up in Elgin whilst Truus is from the Netherlands.

On the farm there are dedicated walks and a nature park with pond where you can take a wander. Ewan and Truus are keen to impress the importance of nature and to share the beauty of the area with others; they take part in an environmental scheme to re-introduce flowers, trees and bushes which will encourage the return of birds and bees, creating an area of natural beauty which all their campers and their dogs can enjoy (with dogs off leads allowed in the nature park only).

Ewan and Truus, along with 7-month old Oliver and Mara the spaniel have only just opened to the public and look forward to a busy season, through until early November. Barns Campsite is a self-build project and they have used local suppliers and businesses to help them complete their project.

They offer 60 pitches on site, which includes 2 glamping pods and a self-catering boutique cottage; there are hard standing and grass pitches, all serviced with water and electric. The site also boasts full toilet and shower facilities, with washroom, chemical waste and drive-over grey water disposal. They also have a dedicated disabled pitch. The pods look directly onto a bronze-age cairn, an ancient monument located on the campsite boundary.

Barns Highland Ltd. also offers safe and secure caravan and motorhome storage facilities all year round, an excellent facility if you love to caravan in the summer but don’t have the space to store your mobile home in the winter.
